Annual report 2024

Review by the CEO
The year 2024 was an important one in many ways. We are living in a time when both economic pressures and the increasingly serious security situation challenge us as individuals, communities and society. Amid these challenges, Erillisverkot’s role in producing critical ICT and telecommunications services for security authorities and operators has become even more crucial. At the core of our operations is the security of society – a value that unites us at Erillisverkot and guides our work.
As the security situation has changed, the authorities have invested heavily in contingency planning and improving preparedness. At Erillisverkot, we have continued to increase our contingency and preparedness: operational communications connections and key telecommunications services must function under all security conditions: during normal times, during disruptions under normal conditions and in emergency conditions. In our contingency and preparedness work, we have taken into account both technical capabilities and the personnel’s own expertise. We have improved the resilience of our own organisation, for example, through an organisational reform.
Security is not permanent, but constantly developing. We know that our operating environment is changing rapidly, and it is our responsibility to stay one step ahead. We are committed to investing in technological development, the prevention of security threats and the reliability of our services, and to always operating in a way that promotes sustainable development. Cooperation with our customers, regulatory ministries and partners has been and will be crucial for the success of our role.
In addition, we want to be better known among decision-makers and other players in our industry in the future. Full-scale utilisation of the services of Erillisverkot is in the best interests of Finland as a whole. One of the measures taken in 2024 was the brand renewal of Erillisverkot.
In difficult times, the human aspect gains more importance. The most important part in securing the critical services of security authorities and operators is cooperation and mutual trust between people. I would like to thank all our employees and partners for their commitment, expertise and flexibility in responding to these challenges.
At Erillisverkot, we are here to ensure that our security operators have the best conditions to perform their duties – to take care of us all.

Erillisverkot in 2024
We celebrated our 25th anniversary through work:
- We continued to implement our renewed strategy by updating our brand, reorganising our organisation and preparing our employer promise.
- We published for our customers roadmaps of all our services. The roadmaps present the two-year development outlook for our services, and they will be updated twice a year in the future.
- We were awarded the Hyvän mielen työpaikka® label by MIELI Mental Health Finland, as a sign of our commitment to promoting mental health at the workplace.
- We continued to invest in the well-being of our employees by, for example, allowing them to spend one working hour per week on exercise, and we published our diversity principles.
- The deployment of the Virve 2 services proceeded to the functional testing phase with customers. In this phase, the services are tested before the actual deployment. This ensures that the new services work as intended.
- The demand for Leijonaverkot and the network and infrastructure services continued to be high as society and customers paid more attention to contingency and crisis resilience.
- We paid particular attention to the operational reliability of our services and developed them further to meet the needs of security operators, including contingency planning.
