Voice Communications Services

VIRVE enables conference calls, secure person-to-person calls, distress calls and text messages. VIRVE also features a direct channel function. Using VIRVE is always secure. It can be used to maintain a direct connection on the field from one phone to another, or to groups of phones.

A conference call

A conference call is similar to a regular open channel. Users may participate in the conference call of their choice. The system ensures that only one participant may speak at a time. New speaker groups can be created into the network and programmed to the terminals via a wireless connection.

A user may belong to several speaker groups at the same time. The user may choose a group or a list of groups, in which the groups can be classified into different categories so that the user always taps into the group defined as the most important.

A secure person-to-person call

Private calls enable person-to-person conversations between terminals, between the emergency centre and a terminal, or between two emergency centres. VIRVE can also be used to establish a connection to a public phone network or to the extensions of the exchange. It is not possible to tap a person-to-person call.

A distress call

The terminal has a distress button which can be pressed to connect to the default destination. Thus this call is classified as that of the highest importance. A distress call will discontinue all other calls in order to obtain the necessary transmission channel. The default destination of the distress call, for example the emergency centre or another user, can be programmed onto the terminal in advance.

A direct channel function

The direct channel function enables a direct radio connection between terminals. Thus, it is possible to establish a connection even in such circumstances where a network connection is unavailable.
