VIRVE enables data transmission and the use of different data services
Short messages
Dense status messages can be transmitted fast and flexibly in the form of short messages, which saves time and network capacity. The maximum length of a short message is 140 characters from a terminal and 256 characters from the base location. Short messages are transmitted to the terminal in VIRVE.
Status messages
Status messages may be used to send routine reports between users and the emergency centre. Users can report their statuses simply by pressing a button, for example AVAILABLE, MISSION, IN POSITION or BREAK. The centre receives the message instantly without the need of establishing a telephone connection.
Automatic location
Via the GPS location the emergency centre, other members of a group and the users themselves are able to maintain awareness of a user's location. People on duty at the base are also able to observe the approximate location of the speaker based on the reference provided by support stations.
Package data
VIRVE provides a GPRS type data transmission function in the whole network area. The maximum speed of data transmission is 4.7 kbit/s.
Suomen Erillisverkot Oy also provides users with the IP and WAP data services enabled by the networks. These digital network services also include firewall and access control services. We continuously develop our network solutions according to the service needs of our customers.
