State Security Networks Ltd. operates the Finnish authorities’ nationwide TETRA network VIRVE. Our subsidiaries VIRVE Products and Services Ltd. sales and repairs TETRA-terminals, Leijonaverkot Oy operates mission-critical data centers and Johtotieto Oy offers nationwide location service for under terrestrial cable coverage.

The State Security Networks Group secures authorities’ mission-critical communications nationwide. Our operation model is based on security aspects, customer needs and the latest technological solutions to furnish communication networks with new possibilities. The services portfolio of our group will be enlarged. At the beginning of 2011 Leijonaverkot Oy was founded to operate mission-critical data centers natiowide. On May 12, 2011 the government plenary session decided to concentrate national security network infrastructure and contracts to the State Security Networks Group a limited non-profit company which is owned by the Finnish Government. On Dec. 16, 2011 new subsidiary company Johtotieto Oy joined the Group.

Police call for more speed

“Data transfer is an enormous challenge. I am amazed at how well VIRVE works for data transfer,” says Chief Inspector Antti Jeronen from the Ministry of the Interior.
The Police are testing the use of TEDS on the test network of State Security Networks Ltd, which would enable faster data transfer in the VIRVE network than is possible today. Jeronen feels that commercial alternatives are also needed.
